How to Set Up Google Places

1. To set up Google Places you'll need a Google account. If you already have one, then go to step 3 and log in when needed. If you'd like to make a new one, then click here to sign up.

2. You should receive a verification email from Google.  Click on the link in the email to verify your address.

3. Go to: http://www.google.com/places/. Under the 'Get your business found on Google' heading, Click on the 'Get Started' button.

4. Click 'List your Business', and then follow the steps to enter your business information as you would like it to appear on the web. The page should then look something like this, with your listing on the right:

5. When you've submitted your details, you will need to validate your listing. This means that Google will contact you by post, phone call or text message, to verify that your business exists. Follow the instructions on the screen to do this.

6. When you've finished validating your listing, then Google will tell you when to expect it to go live on the web.

7. When your listing is live, you can always modify the details or view statistics by going to:
http://www.google.com/places/.

That should be all you need to do. If you have any questions about Places, the Google Support guide is a good place to start:
