  • IMPORTANT: Use unique descriptions, avoid using the same description across multiple pages
  • Limit description to no more than 250 characters, we recommend you stick to 180(min)-250 (max)
  • Include exact target phrases with-in the meta description, but avoid obvious repetition
  • Limit the number of target phrases and their frequency in the description, avoid 'stuffing'
  • Use phrases relevant to your page's content, avoid phrases the content can't support

  • Provide sufficient content with-in the description (ie not just list of key phrases)
  • Provide a compelling language and/or a call-to-action with-in the meta  description
  • Avoid superlatives - awesome, greatest, best, and avoid repeated exclamation points
