So your thinking of leaving us? We are sorry to hear this news, but we understand that sometimes our clients out grow our services and need to move on. As always we are here to help in anyway we can, so before you do move please ensure you have arranged to speak with one of the team regarding the transfer. You can call us to discuss on 02380 633 644. Over the years we have developed a migrations policy for smoothly transferring our clients to a new provider. We have found that a number of providers, most notably creative agencies will dazzle customers with promises of pretty websites, but they are not willing or are unable to provide email hosting, DNS Admin, Domain Handling or even web hosting! At Toolkit websites we provide a complete solution, so all these services are taken care of as part of our service to you. So if you are thinking of leaving it is very important that you ask your new provider about these services and ensure they are offering to take these on and not just provide you with a website and leaving the rest for you to manage. As a responsible company we also have our migrations policy which details a number of key points that should be addressed before your new provider takes over. We would recommend you get assurances from your new provider that each of the following will be done as part of their service. - Take over the administration of the domain name and pay for all renewal fees. At the moment we administer your domain, DNS and handle all renewal fees.
- Provide you with details of their server uptime stats for last 3 years and send you a copy of their SLA (service level agreement) for web hosting. Currently our server uptime stands at 100% over the past 5 years
- Provide you with a back up of the old website so in the event of a problem with the new one you can roll back. We can offer a website back up for £75 + VAT if required.
- Create a back up of your emails and set up transfer from our mail server to theirs. Ensure all mail filters, spam settings, virus protection and email forwarding are configured. PLEASE NOTE it is very important that you can confirmation of the above as you will lose your emails if this has not been set up properly.
- Provide you with a report on your SEO to benchmark against. This is in essence a snapshot of your website performance BEFORE transfer, so that you can ask for a report 3 months AFTER publication to see if there has been any improvement by transferring away from Toolkit Websites. That way you can see if you are getting value for money from your new provider. We can provide a report of your current website standing for the main search engines including MSN Google.
- Provide you with a report on your websites visitors to benchmark against. As above if you are moving away from Toolkit Websites and spending money on a new supplier you will want to see results! We can also send you a copy of your latest traffic report should your new supplier not be able to supply this.
All responsible website companies will probably do all of the above as a matter of course, however we have experienced complications to website transfers in the past due to negligence of other suppliers who are not so thorough. We aim to ensure your website and email transfer goes smoothly and would highly recommend you ask these questions of your new supplier and get written assurances so that you have peace of mind.
