| New Statistics |
Why is the Livestats system being discontinued? At the end of 2006 Microsoft bought Deepmetrix Livestats and have since been integrating the software into their own systems.
Microsoft have now announced that they will no longer be supporting the installed versions of Livestats with effect from 30th April 2008.
This means that if there was a problem with the Livestats system hosted on our servers we can no longer get help from Deepmetrix or Microsoft. This could mean that at any time we might be left with a non-working copy of the Livestats software.
We don't want our clients to lose all their statistics so we are moving everyone over to a new system.
What is the solution?
We have added a new option to The Toolkit that allows you to integrate your website with either Google Analytics or Microsoft Analytics. Both systems are free and offer much more powerful statistics than Livestats.
How does it work?
By adding a small piece of code into the footer of every page of your website the system is able to track all the visitors to your website and provide detailed statistics.
You can add the Google code to this statistics page
Why is it better?
The Google Analytics system has been used by millions of website owners over the last few years and has been developed into a very powerful system.
You get all the same information as Livestats (number of visitors, most popular pages, etc) and much much more (track conversions, integrate with your advertising, etc).
Has the new system been tested?
Yes, we have been using Google Analytics for our own website for over a year. We are very happy with the system and we're sure that you will be too.
What's the downside?
The main downside is that you will need to create your own Google Analytics account and link this to your Toolkit Website.
The process is quite simple and we have created a step-by-step guide to help you along.
Once the accounts have been linked then you do not need to do anything. Google analytics will continue to collect your website statistics.
When will Livestats be stopped?
The current system will be stopped on 1st June 2008. Please ensure that you have linked your Google Analytics before this date.
Can I save my Livestats historical data?
Yes, simply login to Livesats and print out the pages you need. Or you can save pages to your computer if you prefer.
Can I see the email from Microsoft about the end of Livestats?
Yes, here's the email we have received:
