Content managed websites are websites that can be updated by the customer themselves using an external control panel. We offer all our websites with a content mangement system, The Toolkit, which is a web based system (no software to download) that easy to use, even for the computer novice. You can add and remove text, images, pdf documents, plus video and audio files (depending on the package you choose). Which parts of my website does Green Design update for me? The Header Bar (at the top), which includes the Flash Header and Logo Bar, and the colour scheme. Can I change my Flash header? Not with The Toolkit. You can create a support ticket and we will make the changes for you. I don't need to update my site very often. Is yours still a good solution? Yes. In order to rank highly on the search engines, your website content needs to be updated frequently. Most other professional website companies charge as much as, if not more than we do for a static website that you can't update. And when you do need to update, they charge you a lot more to make the changes for you. Where can I get stock images for my website? We recommend the following outstanding stock photo websites: • www.istockphoto.com • www.shutterstock.com Will my images get resized before going into the website? Yes. Simply upload the full size image and our system automatically resizes the images for you. Packages What are the package limits? The package you choose determines how many pages, images and documents you can have on your website. Please have a look through our Packages and Prices pages for more details. How do I know if I’ve reached my package limit? Our fully automated system warns you if you reach your limits. You can then upgrade to a higher package, if you choose. You can also downgrade to a smaller package at any time. Fees Your fee structure is different from other agencies, why is that? We provide a completely unique service. We offer completely bespoke websites, designed specifically to match each individual customer, BUT with the added advantage of every website being content managed, allowing our clients to self serve the editing of their website - saving them money. Our fee structure reflects this, the low set up fee covers the initial set up and the monthly fee covers the ongoing access to the content management system and helps us to fund the development of this system to the benefit of all our customers. What does the setup fee include? It covers the design work and admin time required to get your website live. It doesn’t include content input – which you input yourself using The Toolkit. What does the monthly fee include? The website, domain name, online support, statistics, software upgrades, website hosting, email hosting and access to The Toolkit which allows you to update your website content yourself. In addition we also provide a full backup service, disaster recovery, and better than 99.99% uptime. What’s the minimum contract period? You can cancel your website at any time with 3 months notice period. Why do you charge a monthly fee instead of just a 'Design and Build' fee? Because it works out better for both you and us. Like many successful businesses (such as Sky or Vodafone) we run the 'subscription-based' business model. You benefit through: • Continual upgrades • Ongoing business relationship • Costs spread over time • Low up-front investment • Ever-improving systems • Clear upgrade path Do you provide any extra services? If so, what do you charge? Our primary goal is to offer 'self-service' websites that you have total control over. We do provide some additional services at our hourly rate of £55 per hour. How do I pay for my website? We accept payment by UK Direct Debit only. E-commerce What do I need to consider when setting up an e-commerce website? • Give customers everything they need to know to make an on-the-spot buying decision. Eg: pictures, prices, sizes, manufacturers, colours, dimensions, descriptions… • Inspire trust by looking professional, ensuring secure shopping, giving clear contact details and detailing your returns policy. • We’ll take care of the rest: logical navigation, attractive design, fast download speed, multi-browser compatibility and the great big obvious BUY NOW buttons! You offer up to 500 products for e-commerce sites. Is it possible to add more? Yes, simply sign up for one of our product bundles. How do I set up a merchant account? This is a question you’ll need to ask your bank manager. Or talk to the Barclays ePDQ department. Design Can I have a 'Splash Page' or 'Entry Page' before the home page? No! They’re both outdated and redundant. People simply click on the 'skip intro' button or get frustrated that there’s an extra step before they can see your website. It’s far better to have a Flash header. What is a Flash header? An animated and 'flashy' introduction to your business. Much like the sign above a shop, the Flash header sets the look and feel of your website and company. Search Engines How do I get found in the Search Engines? Once you have your Demo Website we will email you links to many articles about Search Engine Optimisation. We can also recommend a company to manage your Pay Per Click campaign. Does Google list all of your websites? Yes. We design websites with search engine results in mind. All our clients’ websites are listed on the popular Google search engine as well as on Yahoo, MSN Search and many others. Our Policies Do you make it easy for partially blind/deaf people to use your websites? All of our websites conform to the latest legal requirements for online disabled access. What is your backup policy? We backup all data daily to two separate locations. We also have a detailed Disaster and Recovery Plan. What is your copyright policy? We transfer the copyright to our clients for their websites once they are published and paid for. This includes the data and images you have uploaded to the website. (This does not include any rights to The Toolkit.)
