Why is the Website in the Middle of the Screen?

Our website are designed for monitors with a 1024 x 768 screen resolution which is used by 54% of website visitors.

This is to make sure that users with laptops or smaller monitors can see your full website.  If the website is wider then people may need to scroll sideways to view the site.

Users with larger monitors may see 'empty space' either side of the website design however this is completely normal and is common with many sites including the BBC.

We are planning on increasing the width of the website body in future as people gradually change to larger monitor sizes.
